SAY IT IN EIGHT
STUDENT FILM FESTIVAL
Monday, October 20, 5:00 p.m.
Please join us as we showcase the talents of amateur filmmakers from around the world at our twelvth annual Student Film Festival at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland in Downers Grove. A large number of films were submitted by students of varying ages and diverse backgrounds. This year, students were given the challenge of creating a film of 8 minutes or less in order to be eligible. Film educators and professionals were then recruited to serve as our judges. These highly qualified individuals screened each and every film and selected their top choices. What we will see at this special After Hours program is the best in the categories of fiction, non-fiction and animation/experimental, based on level of education, from grammar school though graduate.
We were very impressed with the number and quality of entries this year. The technical skills and creativity demonstrated by these aspiring filmmakers is astonishing. We hope you will come out and join us as we celebrate this new wave of cinema.
Winners are invited to receive their awards at our program and to be available to answer audience questions regarding their film, their background, their goals and ambitions.
After Hours would like to thank Bob Fritz, John Mostacci and Tony Venezia for again serving on our board of judges. These individuals were selected based on their solid background in the world of film. Between them, they possess over 100 years of experience working in film production and education.
After viewing the submissions, the judges were asked to rate them on a variety of criteria including structure, story, artistic approach, technical execution and creative excellence. We recognize the time invested in the arduous jury process and respect the insight and expertise displayed by each of these professionals.
We would also like to thank all the participants of the 2014 Say It In Eight Student Film Festival and wish you success in your future endeavors. May you forever keep your creative spirit!
