Here are the 2007 Judges:

Robert Lee Fritz
An Animation/Film teacher for 20 years, Mr. Fritz is a positive force in the lives of his students.  Their films have won awards at the Student Animation Festival in Ottawa Canada, Kalamazoo International Animation Festival, International Teen Movie Festival in Toronto, Chicago Youth Media Festival, National Scholastics Awards, Burbank International Student Film Fest and have been shown on HBO.
 
Mr. Fritz enjoys a duel career.  After receiving his MA and MFA in studio art, he has worked with freeblown glass for over 25 years. His works have been included in exhibitions at the Tokyo Crafts Expo and International Exhibition of Glass in Kanazawa, Japan.   Bob’s glass has been presented as gifts to the Prime Minister of Japan and the U.S. Ambassador to Japan.  The artist is widely represented in private and public collections throughout the world.  His freeblown glass is in the permanent collection of the Glasmuseum in Denmark and has been featured twice in the New Glass Review, a publication of the Corning Glass Museum in New York.
 
John J. Mostacci
With over 30 years of experience, Mr. Mostacci has been teaching film related courses ever since he became an instructor.  In addition to studying film at Northwestern University and University of Illinois, Chicago, he has also continued his own education through numerous grants he has received from various organizations including the Directors’ Guilds of America, the British Film Institute, American Film Institute and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
 
In 1987, Mr. Mostacci was recognized as College of DuPage’s Outstanding Teacher of the Humanities and is included in Who’s Who in America Education.  He has published articles in a number of magazines and journals and has  served frequently as a judge of student films for the Chicago International Film Festival.
 
Anthony D. Venezia
Mr. Venezia received his MFA in Animation, UCLA and has been involved in the film industry ever since.  He was the former owner of Electric Filmworks, Inc., where his responsibilities included creating and producing digital and film optical effects, logos, motion control model shots and second unit photography.  During that time, he created title elements for major films including “Executive Decision,” “Indecent Proposal,” and “When a Man Loves a Woman.”
 
Mr. Venezia has taught film at UCLA, California Institute for the Arts and Columbia College in Chicago.  He is currently serving as a graphics designer/animator for the “Oprah Winfrey Show” and Total Living Network.
 
Tony is no stranger to Student Film Festivals.  He won his first award when he was a high school senior and continued to win awards and grants throughout his educational career.

The After Hours Film Society invites all students to participate in the 6th Annual Student Short Film and Video Festival, which will be juried by film professionals and educators who have experience as well as an appreciation for creativity, originality, ambition and determination.
 
Eligible entries must be 30 minutes or less and submitted on 1/2" VHS or DVD by June 30, 2008. Applicants must submit a completed and signed entry application (available on line) with $20 fee and their VHS/DVD to:

Winning entries will be screened, and cash prizes will be awarded at a special After Hours Film Society program tentatively scheduled for Monday, October 13, 2008.
 
In 2007 we were able to attract the attention of some very talented student filmmakers.  This year, AHFS is planning a more aggressive approach to reaching students.  The goal is to get the best and most creative work out there.
