“An Intimate Evening with the Plain White T’s”
August 24th, 2009. Doors Open at 6:30 PM, Performance at 7:30PM
Cost:  $25 (members and non-members alike)

Think back to your younger days.  Did you aspire to following your heart to a career? Did you dream of becoming an astronaut, a scientist, a singer, or maybe a movie director? What happened to those dreams?  Were you encouraged to pursue your calling?  Did you succeed in your quest or did life take you in other directions?

On Monday, August 24, AHFS will present a special program showcasing the success of six former local students who discovered that the sky was the limit as they established their careers in the music and film industry.  Hailing from Villa Park, the members of the popular, Grammy-nominated band, the Plain White T’s and their videographer will provide an evening of film and video, an interactive question and answer session and an acoustic concert.

Proceeds from the program will fund the awards presented to the winners of the After Hours Student Short Film and Video Festival scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2009.  Now in its seventh year, the festival has attracted the attention of students across the nation and around the world.  This year welcomed submissions of approximately 95 films that will be judged by a jury of film educators and professionals.

Though the people behind the “Intimate Evening with the Plain White T’s” cannot make the promise that writer Tom Higgenson made in his song, “Hey There, Delilah” about how “The world will never ever be the same,” after their event, but they do promise that on that night, August 24, Downers Grove will rock!

Tickets are available for $25 at the Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland, Downers Grove (630-968-0219) and at Anderson’s Bookshop, 5112 Main Street, Downers Grove (630-963-2665) and 123 W. Jefferson, Naperville (630-963-2665).
